I’m not a follower of prophecies and visions, especially in these days when so many bizarre “words from God” are nonsense, and easily disproved. Today these so-called prophesies emphasise the victory and glory of the Church, and its preparation for a global revival. However, there ARE a few genuine instances of prophecy that have stood the test of time. After all, the bible says that the hallmark of a genuine prophet is that what is said comes to pass. (Deut. 18:22; Jer. 28:9; Ezek. 33:33).
Some Trustworthy Candidates
One example that I believe has merit is David Wilkerson’s book “The Vision” written in 1973.

Amongst other things he saw X-Rated Movies on TV, militant homosexuality, moral standards overturned, Christians turning away from sound teaching to prosperity and materialism, increased false doctrines, and the rise of a heretical World Church.
Norwegian Vision of 1968
Another prophecy – from 1968 – was given by a 90-year old Norwegian Christian, in good standing with her church and community. This wasn’t the modern type of word, a garbled incoherent unbiblical mess of a word shouted out by some self-appointed leader at the front of a megachurch, for notoriety and fame.
This was shared privately between an elderly Christian woman and a travelling Evangelist – Emanuel Minos – who wrote down her words and then shelved his notes because what she said seemed so unbelievable at the time. It was only later, when these things began to happen, that he had the courage to share her vision.
All these facts have been verified, if you were inclined to doubt them. You can read the details at the bottom of this page containing a text of the prophecy (which has been translated from the original.)
Even so, test everything! The word of God is the only truly reliable source of doctrine and prophecy, and even though human beings may be given valuable insights or may even be privileged to see the future as shown by God, nonetheless caution is advised, because human beings are fallible and can interpret things wrongly or report them incorrectly.
An elderly woman aged 90 from Valdres in Norway had a vision from God in 1968. She was a very alert, reliable, awake and credible Christian, with a good reputation among all who knew her. This is what she saw:
I saw the time just before the coming of Jesus and the outbreak of the Third World War. I saw the events with my natural eyes. I saw the world like a kind of a globe and saw Europe, land by land. I saw Scandinavia. I saw Norway. I saw certain things that would take place just before the return of Jesus, and just before the last calamity happens, a calamity the likes of which we have never before experienced.
She mentioned four waves:
First, before Jesus comes, and before the Third World War breaks out, there will be a ‘détente’ like we have never had before. There will be peace between the Superpowers in the East and the West, and there will be a long peace.
MY COMMENT: In the 1960’s the Cold War was at its height and peaceful alliances would have seemed impossible. Yet, as this article says: “During the 1970s, the United States and the Soviet Union pursued a policy of détente, whereby both sides trying to improve their geopolitical situation while minimizing the risk of direct war between the Superpowers.” [Source]
ALSO THIS: “With the passing of several Soviet leaders, Mikhail Gorbachev assumed control of the Soviet Union. His rise to power ushered in an era of perestroika (restructuring) and of glasnost (openness). In 1989, one of the most famous symbols of the Cold War came down: the Berlin Wall. By the end of the year, leaders of every Eastern European nation except Bulgaria had been ousted by popular uprisings. By mid-1990, many of the Soviet republics had declared their independence. On December 8, 1991, the Soviet Union ceased to exist. Boris Yeltsin, president of the Russian Republic, formed the Commonwealth of Independent States (C.I.S.). After 45 years, the Cold War was over.” [Source]
She continued: In this period of peace there will be disarmament in many countries, also in Norway, and we are [therefore] not prepared when it [the war] comes. The Third World War will begin in a way no one would have anticipated – and from an unexpected place.
A lukewarmness without parallel will take hold of the Christians, a falling away from true, living Christianity. Christians will not be open for penetrating preaching. They will not, like in earlier times, want to hear of sin and grace, law and gospel, repentance and restoration. There will come a substitute instead: Prosperity [happiness] Christianity.
MY COMMENT: It is remarkable that in 1968, before the rise of the “Prosperity Teaching” and the “Health and Wealth Gospel” [Source] this lady foresaw that true Christians would be seduced by such a thing. She said that Christians will think that:
The important thing will be to have success, to be something; to have material things, things that God never promised us in this way. Churches and prayer houses will be emptier and emptier. Instead of the preaching we have been used to for generations – like, to take up your cross and follow Jesus – entertainment, art and culture will invade the churches where there should have been gatherings for repentance and revival. This will increase markedly just before the return of Jesus.
MY COMMENT: How accurate this is! All of us have witnessed churches being turned into entertainment centres for rock bands, dancing, art displays, cultural conferences, performances and almost anything but solid bible teaching and the preaching of the gospel.
Young people in particular rarely want “boring” bible studies because their lives are centred around music and entertainment. While there are notable exceptions, the trend is towards possessions, pleasure and self-gratification, not repentance, clean living and self-denial.
How could this lady have seen such a dramatic change in the churches, except by a word from God? Certainly, FALSE prophecies are running in the opposite direction. Over and over we are told that public worship sessions will lead to a “global revival” so that this ‘christian’ prosperity can be enjoyed by all the world.
“This year we will begin to see many changes in the Body of Christ [which] will coincide with the monumental transformation that’s taking place in the nations of the world. …The Lord [promised] prosperity and the return of His glory. … Watch what happens as the Shekinah glory returns and sparks the spirit of revival around the globe. Watch as salvations increase and the wealth of the wicked is turned over to the righteous.” Bonnie Jones: “A Year of God’s ‘Awakening the Nations’ and ‘Prophecy by Bob Jones'” Pineville, NC Jan. 13, 2017 [Source]
“There will be a moral disintegration which old Norway has never experienced before. People will live together like married without being married.”
(E. Minos commented here that in 1968 the term cohabitation didn’t exist or at least wasn’t well known as it is today. Now, as this article shows, “Cohabitation in Norway: an Accepted Way of Living” [Source] It states:
The modern form of cohabitation started later and developed more slowly in Norway than in the other Scandinavian countries. Now the differences between the Scandinavian countries are much smaller, and cohabitation is more common than in any other parts of Europe. The percentage of Norwegian women aged twenty to thirty-nine who are cohabiting is more than twice that in Great Britain.
She continued: “Much uncleanness before marriage, and much infidelity in marriage will become the natural (translated: the norm, the usual), and it will be justified from every angle. It will even enter Christian circles and we pet it [Christian leaders and others will both accept and overlook it, treating it as normal] – even sin against nature.”
MY COMMENT: In the 1960’s almost all countries had laws forbidding sodomy. But sexual acts between two consenting adult males were made legal in England and Wales in 1967, and in other places from then onwards. In this lady’s home of Norway, what she saw in her vision was illegal until 1972.
Gay Legislation in Norway: Norway, like most of Scandinavia, is very liberal in regards to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) rights. In 1981, Norway became one of the first countries in the world to enact an anti-discrimination law explicitly including sexual orientation. Same-sex marriage, adoption, and assisted insemination treatments for lesbian couples have been legal since 2009. Much like the other Nordic countries, Norway is frequently referred to as one of the world’s most LGBT-friendly nations, with high societal acceptance and tolerance of LGBT people. Recent opinion polls have found very high levels of support for same-sex marriage among the Norwegian public. [Source]
TV and Movie
“Just before Jesus returns there will be TV programs like we have never experienced. TV will be filled with such horrible violence that it teaches people to murder and destroy each other, and it will be unsafe in our streets. People will copy what they see. There will not be only one ‘station’ on TV, it will be filled with ‘stations.’ [She did not know the word ‘channel’ which we use today. Therefore she called them stations. E. Minos.] TV will be just like the radio where we have many ‘stations,’ and it will be filled with violence. People will use it [violence] for entertainment. We will see terrible scenes of murder and destruction one after the other, and this will spread in society.
MY COMMENT: This part of the vision could hardly have been anticipated naturally, because TV had only just arrived in Norway in 1968. Television in Norway was introduced in 1954, but the first program was shown in 1958, and officially begin on August 20, 1960. As in Denmark, Norway had only ONE television channel until the 1980s. This makes her statement much more believable.
She then said, “Sex scenes will also be shown on the screen, the most intimate things that takes place in a marriage.”
E. Minos says, ‘at this point I protested and said, “we have a paragraph that forbids this kind of thing.”‘ The translation of a ‘paragraph’ is meant to refer to decency laws governing language and content in entertainment. As with most countries, in the 1960s in Norway there was strict censorship, such that the Evangelist could not imagine how explicit sex scenes could appear on TV. Nowadays, hardly a moment goes by without them!
When Minos objected, the old woman replied: “It WILL happen, and you will see it. All we have had before will be broken down, and the most indecent things will pass before our eyes.” David Wilkerson, as beforementioned, said exactly the same thing in his book in 1973.
She continued: “People from poor countries will stream to Europe. (In 1968 there was no such thing as immigration. E. Minos.) They will also come to Scandinavia – and Norway. There will be so many of them that people will begin to dislike them and become hard with them. They will be treated like the Jews before the Second World War. Then the full measure of our sins will have been reached.”
E. Minos protested at the issue of immigration. He says, “I did not understand it at the time”. How could he have foreseen the massive influx of immigrants that we see today flooding into and through Europe, so many that – as the vision foretold – native Europeans are fed up with it and starting to be hateful and harsh as they see their culture and way of life threatened.
Overwhelmed by Refugee Flows, Scandinavia Tempers its Warm Welcome (By Arno Tanner 2016)
Sweden took in more asylum seekers per capita than any other European Union Member State in 2015. And its neighbours Norway and Finland also saw major inflows of asylum seekers. More than 1 million asylum seekers and migrants reached Europe in 2015, in chaotic, unauthorized flows that taxed rescue and care operations, left policymakers with policy proposals inadequate to the enormity of the challenge, and hit some countries much harder than others. In Norway, more than 31,000 asylum applications were lodged in 2015, and the country is bracing for as many as 60,000 new applicants this year. As the continuing arrivals overwhelmed the asylum systems, the once welcoming public began to chafe at the growing burdens. [Source]
The Coming War
The tears streamed from the old woman’s eyes down her cheeks. “I will not see it, but you will. Then suddenly, Jesus will come and the Third World War breaks out. It will be a short war.” She saw this war in the vision.
MY COMMENT: In saying that Jesus Christ will come and World War Three will break out, she doesn’t (unfortunately for us) make plain the sequence of events, whether she is referring to the rescue of the remaining faithful Christians before this outbreak of war, or after. What she describes here, as you will see, sounds very similar to the bowls judgements spoken of in Revelation.
However, it seems to me that the Second Coming of Christ as described in Revelation and elsewhere in the bible does not RESULT in WW3 but will END it. Therefore, I take the prophecy’s text to mean the Rapture rather than the Second Coming. This is my own personal assessment.
Description of the War
“All that I have seen of war before is only child’s play compared to this one, and it will be ended with a nuclear atom bomb. The air will be so polluted that one cannot draw one’s breath. It will cover several continents, America, Japan, Australia and the wealthy nations. The water will be ruined (contaminated?). We can no longer till the soil. The result will be that only a remnant [a small number of people] will remain. The remnant in the wealthy countries will try to flee to the poor countries, but they will be as hard on us as we were on them.
“I am so glad that I will not see it, but when the time draws near, you must take courage and tell this. I have received it from God, and nothing of it goes against what the Bible tells. The one who has his sin forgiven and has Jesus as Savior and Lord, is safe.”
