Do Not Love the World

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world — the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life — is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever“. (1 John 2:15-17 ESV)

These are the words of Jesus, who could have come to this world powerfully and with the armies of Heaven to force obedience to God, and to overturn all that is contrary to him. Yet he did not.

Even offered the nations of the world on a silver platter by the devil, Jesus did not hesitate to commit to God’s plan, because ruling the world at the price of bowing to satan’s kingship was not on his agenda, despite the cost he would have to pay in terms of human suffering.

As this article rightly says:

Jesus’ temptations follow three patterns that are common to all men. The first temptation concerns the lust of the flesh (Matthew 4:3–4). Our Lord is hungry, and the devil tempts Him to convert stones into bread, but He replies with Scripture, quoting Deuteronomy 8:3. The second temptation concerns the pride of life (Matthew 4:5–7), and here the devil uses a verse of Scripture (Psalm 91:11–12), but the Lord replies again with Scripture to the contrary (Deuteronomy 6:16), stating that it is wrong for Him to abuse His own powers. The third temptation concerns the lust of the eyes (Matthew 4:8–10), and if any quick route to the Messiahship could be attained, bypassing the passion and crucifixion for which He had originally come, this was the way. The devil already had control over the kingdoms of the world (Ephesians 2:2) but was now ready to give everything to Christ in return for His allegiance. But the mere thought almost causes the Lord’s divine nature to shudder at such a concept and He replies sharply, “You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only” (Deuteronomy 6:13).

Thus Jesus acted out his own words in the opening verse (1 John 2:15-17) in denying the desire to have influence, power and possessions – even in a godly way.

Yet now we contrast that with the activity of the modern Church, in calling for those very things that Jesus rejected, and accepting the devil’s offer of world rulership almost joyfully, believing that the Church’s role is to “RULE THE NATIONS” as we read below.

ReAwaken America Tour

The 4th “Reawaken America” event took place Aug. 19-21, in Grand Rapids, MI. On the 21st, Clay Clark asked Leon Benjamin to give the closing prayer. According to his bio at this link, he is the “Senior Pastor and Bishop of New Life Harvest Church in Richmond, VA”. Benjamin begins speaking at the 8:49:02 point of this video:

  • (Summary) The most important point is this – he declares what is obviously on the minds of many people in this movement – “Jesus is coming back for A CHURCH THAT CONTROLS AND RULES THE NATION.”

He says:
“Ready to take America back? .. We’re going to see some things spill over because enough is enough. .. we are getting ready to stand up and beat somebody’s tail. We’re getting ready to take something back. We’re getting ready to charge, and do what we have to do. … We have enough in our mouth to destroy BLM, Antifa, and any gangster, and any MS13, and anything else. It’s in your mouth! Because of the Holy Ghost. …the word in your mouth becomes a weapon, a sword … so just change the government with your mouth. … because GOD IS NOT COMING DOWN, because He now lives inside of us, the Kingdom of God is within us, and now we are rising up, we’re rearing up as Americans, as patriots, … Jesus ain’t coming back for a punked up church. He’s coming back for a RISEN church, He’s coming back for a strong church, He’s coming back for a rich church, a wealthy church, A CHURCH THAT CONTROLS AND RULES THE NATION.

These statements epitomise and encapsulate the very essence of the ongoing plan for patriotic dominionists.

World Dominion Is The Plan

Judging by the upbeat rhetoric of this, and many speeches like it, Christians are going to be victorious rulers – not persecuted and martyred as Revelation describes, and as Jesus warns in his Olivet Discourse.

If we are to believe the visions and prophecies of the outspoken teachers of the Church, millions will turn to God, evil will be overthrown, the world will be transformed, and the Church will be prosperous, powerful and in rulership over the nations.

But according to the word of God, what will actually be the conditions on earth just before the Lord returns?

Despite centuries of gospel preaching, the bible says “Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” Luke 18:8

Growing Turmoil and Rebellion

  • The Apostle Paul tells us that “the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared” (1 Timothy 4:1-2)
  • Jesus explains that his return will be at a time of rebellion and increasing evil and, “because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:13).
  • Paul adds that in the latter days “people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:2-4).

According to the book of Revelation, evil and godless rebellion will grow and advance everywhere around the world, culminating in the rulership of the devil himself (not the Church, as some claim.)

It may be, though, that the two are the same thing!

That is, the advance of the false Church with its determination to rule the world, will unite with a religious campaign of love and unity, one that poses as godly and beneficial but is in fact no more or less than the lie presented to Adam and Eve in Eden: worship satan and self in order to achieve everything you ever dreamt of, with limitless power, and all without the oppression of a judgemental invisible Godhead telling you what to think, believe and do!!

A Goodly Scheme?

This plan will not appear to be “evil” – as it did not to Adam and Eve – so humanity at the other end of history will be wooed by the exact same lie, and the professing “church” will lead the way in preaching this upbeat, encouraging, hopeful and victorious message. All for the sake of self-promotion and dominion over the nations!

In reality the powers that ARE presently in dominion over the nations, until the very overthrow led by Jesus Christ, are the fallen powers of Satan. They will be thrown out of their fortresses “in the air” and for three years try hard to win over the people of earth by their false promises and lies, but ultimately will end up in the fires of the Abyss, where they have always belonged.

This is NOT the victory the Church is promising us, but the very worst kind of deception!

Movements That Plan to Save Mankind

  • Seven Mountains

The plan of the much-hyped ‘Seven Mountains Mandate‘ and other similar schemes is to convert the world before the return of Jesus. Those who follow the seven mountain mandate believe that, in order for Christ to return to earth, the church MUST take control of the seven major spheres of influence in society for the glory of Christ. Only when the world has been made subject to the kingdom of God, through the Church on earth, will Jesus will return and rule the world.

Here are the seven mountains, according to the seven mountain mandate:
1) Education
2) Religion
3) Family
4) Business
5) Government/Military
6) Arts/Entertainment
7) Media

  • Dominionism

Dominion theology, also known as Christian reconstructionism and theonomy, states that biblical Christianity will rule all areas of society, personal and corporate. Those who hold these views also believe that Christ will not return to earth until God’s kingdom has been established. The principal goal, then, of dominion theology and Christian reconstructionism is political and religious domination of the world.

What is Dominion Theology?

  • Restorationism

To this we can add Restorationism, which is a more Pentecostal/Word of Faith version of the above. Restorationism is the belief that Christianity must be restored along the lines of what is known about the apostolic early church. Different groups have tried to implement the restorationist vision in a variety of ways; for instance, some have focused on the structure and practice of the church, others on the ethical life of the church, and others on the direct experience of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer.

  • Replacement Theology

This usually goes hand in hand with Replacement Theology, saying that the Jewish people were only used to prepare the way for the Messiah, but with Jesus’s coming, and their rejection of their Messiah, this particular period of salvation history came to an end and the Church became the new expression of God’s election and saving power. Israel has forfeited the scriptures and the prophets, which are now the property of the Church, they teach.

  • New Apostolic Reformation (NAR)

The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is a dominionist movement which asserts that God is restoring the lost offices of church governance, namely the offices of Prophet and Apostle.

They claim that these present-day prophets and apostles alone have the power and authority to execute God’s plans and purposes on earth. They believe they are laying the foundation for a global church, governed by them.

End Result

Thus, by a combination of false teaching, as above, plus increasing unity and cross-contamination with Rome, the idea of creating a New Apostolic Empire across the world has been forming for the past few decades.

Now, in what appears to be the culmination of their beliefs, they propose to convert (or subjugate) mankind, put an end to what they see as satanic government forces, and destroy secretive cultic groups that they believe are undermining true Christian beliefs.

Lately they have been fuelled by such conspiracies as are pushed by QAnon and similar groups, which strengthened their belief that everything is run by a hidden child-sacrificing elite who are determined to create a “New World Order” via such things as masks and vaccinations.

Sadly, the only New World Order that will be created by their activities is the OLD world order of the New-Age “love, light and truth” drawing on spiritual powers for enlightenment.

A New Apostolic Empire across the world has been forming for the past few decades.

Overthrowing Oppressive Rulers and Restoring Freedom

If you want to talk about evil oppressive empires, the Roman Empire at the time of Jesus would be a good place to start, and Israel truly was subjugated by its rulers. There was greed, corruption, immorality, injustice, suppression of rights – you name it!

So when Jesus the Jewish Messiah arrived many Jews assumed it was to restore their supremacy and godly kingdom, to rise up against oppression, to overthrow the ruling powers and return the nation to the kingdom of God.

Hadn’t God promised them rulership, and made them the “head of the nations”? Hadn’t God promised to overthrow all their enemies?

Even after everything Jesus said to the contrary, even after he rose again, the question on their lips was “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6).

Those who threw their clothes and palm branches at his feet as he rode into Jerusalem believed the same thing; they were quick to denounce him when he declared to Pilate, “my kingdom is not of this world!”.

Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now [at this present time] My kingdom is not from here.” Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. [Notice, Jesus did not deny his kingship] For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” [John 18:36-37]

Give Us A King!

However, hearing truth from Jesus, and committing their lives to him, was not the plan of the multitudes. They were much more engaged with their political aims (Make Israel Great Again!) and their religious ambitions (Arise and Rule!).

On at least one occasion the people tried to make Jesus their king, by force if necessary, (John 6:5-15) but he evaded them. There was sufficient support to make Jesus the national king, and to oppose Rome politically, but it is abundantly clear from scripture that it was not his plan.

Judas was also, I believe, disappointed and eventually furious with Jesus for not fulfilling the hopes and dreams of his radical brotherhood, the zealots who believed – as many Christians do today – that they were commanded by God to rise up and revolt, to fight for their freedom from oppression and servitude. However, Jesus never once suggested he was going to do that!

For that reason, Judas betrayed his Master (believing perhaps that Jesus could not be killed and would be forced to declare his power and rulership if push came to shove.)

Little did he know, his actions would lead to crucifixion, and that he was only part of the prophetic plan to achieve world salvation at the expense of the mortal life of Jesus Christ.

At the moment of betrayal, Jesus did not call upon the heavenly armies (although he could have done so, as he explained to Peter. Matthew 26:53) but when Peter drew his sword, Jesus told him (Matt. 26:52), “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword”.

Romans 12:19 says the same thing, “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to [make room for, stand aside and allow for] wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

Jesus Never Opposed Rome

It may come as a surprise to Christians today to find out that Jesus never once opposed Roman rule! Nor did he command resistance or opposition. He said, I have not come into the world to judge the world, but to save it.

“If anyone hears My words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.” (John 12: 47)

“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” [John 3:17]

Will Jesus Submit to Caesar’s rule?

The Pharisees tried to trap Jesus in his words, and find a reason to accuse him. In Matthew 22:15-22, we read:

“Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words. They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. “Teacher,” they said, “… what is your opinion? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?

“But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius, and he asked them, “Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?”

Caesar’s,” they replied. Then he said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.”

Submit to Governing Authorities

People complained about paying taxes even in Jesus’ time. The Roman Empire, which had conquered Israel, imposed a heavy financial burden to pay for its army, road system, courts, temples to the Roman gods, and for the emperor’s personal wealth. Nevertheless, the Gospels leave no doubt that Jesus taught his followers not only in words but by example, to give to the government any taxes that are owed.

So, this religious test question about paying taxes to Rome was a clever one, because Jews were incensed at the level of corruption and excess taxation to Rome; to be a “tax-gatherer” was an insult because most of them were creaming off the top for themselves.

Yet Jesus had disciples that were the tax collectors. See this article. And instead of condemnation of Rome, Jesus wisely replied to the question about paying his taxes by saying “Render to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s“.

Jesus could have taken this opportunity to denounce the rulers of Rome, to condemn the Oppressors of his nation, and to urge Jews to stand up, speak out: do not allow yourselves to be subjugated, you are God’s people! You have the right to protest! Instead of waving the flag, marching on Rome, making banners and signs saying “We demand our FREEDOM”, Jesus commanded respect and obedience towards worldly authorities.

So does the rest of the bible:
Romans 13:1, Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. NLT

1 Peter 2:13-14, Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. NIV

I do not deny that, in the Lord’s timing, Jesus WILL return as KING, to judge and avenge and consign evil to the Pit. I do not deny that one day (possibly soon) Jesus will set up a godly rule over the nations and bring all things into order. Yet that day cannot be forced by the Church, or any man.

Our Hope From Heaven

For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame — who set their mind on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. [Phil 3:18-21]

Look around you. The outcry against Government is increasing – although the Western nations have democracy, religious freedom, prosperity, and have no want of the “things of this world” – yet powerful forces are now at work encouraging rebellion, in some cases violently.

(I believe these forces are inspired by the devil, who is paving the way for his appearance as the ultimate world-saviour, the one who will put everything right and make freedom [to do as you please] the underlying creed of mankind.)

What was the original sin? To trust the words of that Snake who implied that God was interfering with their freedom, and right to act as they chose! It’s not deadly to be wise and to aspire to be like God, he hissed. You don’t need God to come and sort things out, YOU have the power within YOU, arise and act like the rulers of this world, and do what is needful yourselves.

And so we return to the statement of that minister: “GOD IS NOT COMING DOWN, because He now lives inside of us, the Kingdom of God is within us, and now we are rising up… a RISEN church, A CHURCH THAT CONTROLS AND RULES THE NATION.”

And nobody is more delighted with this turn of events than the coming Antichrist!

  1. The worldwide, underground Church meets illegally in underground church meetings all the time. This is another case of disobeying authorities. That list (of things Christians do in disobedience to authorities) could go on for a while.

I the point is to not oppose or disobey in a spirit of rebellion, and that’s what we are seeing rising up everywhere now.

  2. There is an exception to the dictum to obey authorities: We are not to take the mark of the beast. And this mark, IMO, can only be mandated on a worldwide basis to fulfill the Scripture (Rev 13:14-18). We’ve got the technology to implement such a thing, but we do not, as yet, have the requisite worldwide power structure.
