UK Riots: What are the underlying causes?

It’s hard to know what to say when for three days and nights your cities have been under siege, set on fire and ransacked.

We watch the news with a sense of disbelief but not surprise. Many of us had said “if this goes on, there will be rioting in the streets”. But we meant that the poor, the oppressed, the angry, and those treated cruelly and unjustly would hit back with a protest so strong that this country would reel from it.

In the event, the rioting was even worse because it was the result, not of protest, nor in support of basic human rights, but a selfish greedy and criminal desire to loot and burn for the sake of it, just because they can.

The bible said “lawlessness shall increase” and it is. It said this:
2 Tim 3:1-5

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come, for people will be…
lovers of themselves
lovers of money
boasters
proud
blasphemers
disobedient to parents
unthankful
unholy
unloving
unforgiving
slanderers
without self-control
brutal
despisers of good
traitors
headstrong
haughty
lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God

This we see all around us, growing worse by the day.

There has always been selfishness and lawlessness. But throughout history that evil was contained and restricted by physical distance and location, by lack of speedy communication, and by the unavailably of graphic media, as well as the inclination of most people to be law-abiding and moral. All that has been swept away.

Today we see gangs organised via Twitter and Blackberry messaging, being directed round the streets by mobile phones.

Today we see the result of that mayhem instantly via a live feed on TV, encouraging others to go out and do the same thing the next day.

But given all that is true, what are some of the recent causes underlying the situation we are witnessing of rampant uncontrolled lawlessness roaming our streets? It’s not hard to identify because these are issues that are being discussed in every gathering of normal people (but somehow not in the corridors of power, where a corporate insanity prevails.)

Education

For many years the education system has been infiltrated by left-wing, liberal, and fanciful new-world ideas that have removed discipline and straightforward studying of the facts, and replaced them with “yuman rights”, and propaganda for the cause. Instead of educating children, they introduced them to the idea that anything goes, and nobody must complain. We ended up with generations of illiterate yobs whose only aim in life is to take from society and escape all consequences.

Justice

Whether or not you believe in the death penalty for murder, it was a turning point for this country when we decided to imprison killers instead. It was the leading edge of another liberal agenda to see criminals as “victims of society” instead of those who needed punishment. Year by year we have watched the justice system strain and break. Shorter sentences, more lenient courts, fewer people arrested, while crime escalated at an alarming rate. The police are hogtied by nit-picking rules and regulations that forbid them to violate anybody’s “rights” (apart from the victims of crime, naturally). Add to this the prevailing attitude of the authorities that it’s illegal to defend yourself or (as they call it) “take the law into your own hands” and you have the disgraceful situation of innocent citizens brought to court for trying to defend their own property or lives!

Drugs and Alcohol

People fuelled by these are much more likely to be irrational and desperate. Too much crime is drug-related. Yet alcohol continues to be dirt cheap, and the licensing hours have been extended instead of cut. So unable are the authorities to deal with the drug problem that their recently proposed “answer” was just to make personal drug use legal because it’s impossible to stop it now. Yet people out of their heads on drugs and drink are frequently violent and abusive, stealing to support their habit, unable to work, ill and using up NHS resources, not to speak of the damage they do to their own and their family’s lives. (Much of what was stolen in the rioting was alcohol.)

Video games and computers

This is another huge area of concern. Very young children are getting access to the internet, seeing and involving themselves in things that scar their minds and corrupt their spirits. Social Networking introduces them to people they would not normally have known, and outside of all parental control. Peer-pressure means they will attempt things against their better judgement. Video games are violent and horrific, teaching them to kill and steal without mercy and without restraint. What they see informs their lives and educates them to believe in a world where everything is up for grabs, without consequences.

Media

Music too, and TV programming, has become more and more sexually explicit and foul in every way. Censorship seems non-existent. Storylines are about all about getting your own way, no matter what. Crime is fun, and clever. Younger and younger children are reading magazines and other media that pushes them to conform to a sexualized and greedy lifestyle when they are too young to make adult decisions about the need for restraint.

Breakdown of the family, no discipline

At the same time, as we all know, the family has crumbled apart. With the open encouragement of successive Governments, marriage has been abandoned in favour of casual relationships, children being born to multiple partners, men drifting from one woman to the next, women raising several non-related children alone… meaning that the all-important input of a strong and reliable father-figure is missing. The only parenting that the children understand is getting their wants supplied. They witness arguments, abandonment and strife all their lives and conclude that there is nothing stable or good about the human experience. It’s “every man for himself”.

No incentive

One strong incentive in life is to do better than those around you, gain a good education and train for a career that will reward you and your family in later life. However, that aim has been removed from the lives of many ordinary people. Much schooling is a joke and even now children leave without knowing how to write or speak correctly, and unable to do basic sums. They know nothing about history or geography and even less about science. Then when they try to go on to university they either drop out, unable to face the challenge of a good education, or else they are unable to attend in the first place due to cost. The only jobs they can get (if any at all) are menial and badly-paid. If despite all this they enter a profession that provides a good salary they are stung by the various taxes and disincentives this country has always provided to punish those who do well. Talent and Invention are shipped off to countries who know how to reward them, while we struggle on with a dumbed-down lack-lustre population that only knows how to toe the line.

No good role-models

Another incentive used to be the role-models people encountered while growing up. Now, many role-models such as footballers, rock stars and actors are famous for being loud-mouthed, drunken, adulterous and ignorant. It’s the evil of society that is paraded in the press and applauded, and made into entertainment. It is greed, selfishness, infidelity, pride, anger and hatred of religion that people see and hear. They conclude “this is how life is lived, this is how I should be.”

Hatred of God

The prevailing attitude of the media today is “bash the bible”. No holds barred in portraying Christians as ignorant depraved fools who deserve no consideration from society. Every sinew is stretched out to find yet another way to disprove the Christian truths, whether in the Press, on TV or just in private conversations.

Children may not have been taught anything about history, but if any conversation arises with a religious element they suddenly “know” all about the bible, how contradictory and “repressive” it is (even though they have never seen, let alone read, one.) It seems as if TV producers work to a golden rule that Christians must appear in every drama and cartoon, to be mocked and resented and shown up as corrupt and self-serving idiots.

It’s no wonder churches are empty and Christianity has such a bad name. But along with that goes the intense fear of “judgement” that people instinctively feel! Anyone who is Christian knows the knee-jerk response “how dare you judge me?” when anything about God is mentioned.

Deep levels of sin have produced a bad conscience in society, but instead of owning up to sin people would rather do away with God, so as to avoid unpleasantness. When they are told by everything they hear and see that God is judgemental and repressive, they join in the chorus, rejoicing in their freedom to do as they please.

The result can be seen on the TV news today.

When a child as young as 10 gets a message from a gang of friends who say they are going into the city to smash and burn shops and loot whatever they can carry, what is there from the list above to prevent him saying “I’m there.”

Is there any parental disapproval? NO! His Mum is probably too busy watching TV with her new boyfriend, and even if she stands in his way, she’ll be told to F-Off.

Is there any fear of the police or the legal system? NO! Even if by bad luck he was arrested he wouldn’t be charged, and would be let back home with nothing more than a caution. Then he’d be even more proud of his status in the gang!

Is there any personal inclination to avoid criminal behaviour? NO! “Everybody else is doing it” and the more they succeed the better they feel. Everything he watches and everyone he admires spurs him on, rather than the opposite.

Is there any reason to resist? NO! Because he “needs” to “have things” like the rest of the world, and his Mum won’t buy them. He wants new trainers, and the clothes that his friends wear, and all those “must-have” electronic gadgets, and the drink that dulls his unhappy memories, and he knows he’ll never be able to have them without stealing. So why not? Society “owes him”! “THEY” have things, so why shouldn’t he?

And I must say, when big businesses, banks, government departments, celebrities, and the high-fliers in this country are so dismissively arrogant about their billions of ill-gotten gains, while others have nothing, it’s not surprising there is a deep resentment amongst ordinary people!

Finally, is there any fear of the consequences? NO! From whom could there be consequences? His mother doesn’t care that much, his friends already approve, his school won’t intervene and to be sure he won’t be hearing anything about God and the Ten Commandments anytime soon.

Climate Change Religion Destroying Nations and Lives

Never has there been a world religion so evangelical, so ludicrous, so biased, and so contrary to common sense as “climate change”. (It used to be called “global warming” until even its supporters realised that name was unsustainable in light of factual research.)

This week it has been announced that all gas and electricity bills are to go up by an average of 15% and in most cases more like 20-30%. Those who use LEAST power will pay MOST! (Way to penalise those who ARE trying their best.)

The news media have been very slow to tell us why, and the electricity companies are throwing out every deception they know to cover the real truth: we are all being made to pay billions for the “green agenda” this country has adopted in defiance of the rest of the world.

Energy companies are required to buy a proportion of their energy from “renewable resources” and they pass the cost onto the customers. Then there’s the kickbacks paid to wind-farm owners, which again come off our energy bills. They are also obliged to keep the price of energy high as a sort of energy-tax on consumers, and a deterrent to industry.

The greatest energy-users (and thus supposedly the greatest polluters of the atmosphere) such as China, India and America have all refused to set targets or to close their power plants. Alone in all the world, the UK has committed itself to a binding, legal obligation to de-carbonise this country, and to produce power from “renewables”, aka wind power.

Yet the UK’s contribution to global carbon emissions is a tiny 2 percent, and is more than wiped out by China’s annual increase in energy needs. Even if we completely shut down all industry in this country, closed every power-station, and went back to using candles and ox-carts, we would STILL not have solved any global problems (if you accept they exist in the first place.)

We contribute bumpkiss to global warming, yet we are destroying our nation to resolve it.

This Government brags about how “green” they are, saying the UK is the only nation legally committed to imposing severe and binding carbon-reducing requirements on the country. At a time of global recession, is this wise? Certainly, other more sensible countries have said no.

How much more deluded can our Government be – they are worshipping a false god (mother earth) with beliefs that can be scientifically challenged by a schoolchild. And the result is policies that impoverish the nation and endanger the faltering economy at the worst possible time to do it.

While cutting back on social care, hospitals, education and benefits, they hand out huge subsidies to anyone greedy enough to erect a windfarm or plaster their house with solar panels.

Companies have sprung up on the promise of a fast buck, aggressively advertising such schemes, and offering tax-free windfalls for the participants. If you really want to annoy the neighbours, kill wildlife, and irretrievably destroy your local environment why not just set off a small nuclear explosion that will power your farm for decades? It would be far more effective for your energy needs I promise you. (Possibly not so lucrative however, and there’s the rub.)

No greater delusion can be found than the Government’s plan to decarbonise the country. To do so they need to pour billions  into raping our beautiful landscape to erect thousands of ugly wind farms. But that doesn’t matter according to the official reports. “Wind power MUST be made to work“, a report by the Sustainable Development Commission has said. The report’s authors accept wind farms will alter the British landscape, but “probably not as much as climate change would“.

This is like saying I should burn down my house because that is less destructive than the tornado or tsunami that “could possibly happen” in the future.

In February 2011 there were 283 UK grid-connected wind farms containing 3,153 wind turbines with the “capacity” to generate 5204 MW. Of course they don’t do anything like that. No wind farm works “to capacity”. Last winter these blights to the countryside give us less than 0.2 percent of what we needed to keep warm.

It’s been estimated that, in order to meet their commitment, the Government would have to erect ten wind turbines per DAY for the next two decades, and that figure is based on an incorrect estimate of how much power they might produce. The truth is, they are totally inefficient!

At the same time as producing minimal amounts of electricity, they need power drawn from the national grid to keep going. Coal stations are used as a back-up when there is a surge in demand for gas and the wind does not blow – which both tend to happen a lot in this country. But this need for backup coincides with a European Union directive to CLOSE Britain’s coal and oil fired power stations!

The UK has committed to switching off these stations by 2015, leaving it uniquely vulnerable to gas shortages and the intermittency of wind farms. Industry will have its gas supply shut off first – and then what will it use?

The Government’s over-optimistic strategy predicts it will save “750 million tonnes of CO2 between now and 2030“.  BUT even the official figures represent a saving of just SEVEN seven per cent of the UK’s annual CO2 emissions and only 0.1 per cent of world emissions.

The latest and most deluded doctrine of this religion is the abhorrence of shale gas. If you believe in God and his provision, then shale gas might just be seen as his answer to the world’s energy crisis. All around the world, huge amounts of oil and gas can be found in the shale layers underground. This has always been known but until recently the technology did not exist to extract it. That problem has been solved and now every nation is looking into commercial extraction to meet their energy shortfall.

But the UK is dragging its feet.

According to the British Geological Survey there could be around 150 billion cubic metres of onshore shale-gas in the UK. This the equivalent of 1.5 years of total UK gas consumption and is worth around £28bn at today’s prices. But already the green gurus are throwing up their hands in despair and calling for exploratory drilling to halt.

A report by Kevin Anderson, professor of energy and climate change at the Tyndall Centre at Manchester University, says the shale gas should be left in the ground. “In an energy hungry world any new fossil fuel resource will only lead to additional carbon emissions. In the case of shale gas there is also a significant risk its use will delay the introduction of renewable energy alternatives.

The shale gas reserves have only become available because of breakthroughs in both drilling techniques and chemical products but it has transformed the energy market in America and sent the price of natural gas plunging downwards.

Britain and the rest of Europe have much higher gas prices currently and a link with oil prices have sent them to very high levels.

Now as you open your fuel bill in August and see your already-high payments shoot up by as much as 30 percent, will you pin the blame on the climate-change “religion” or will you blame “rising wholesale prices” or “expenses to our infrastructure” as the Electricity Company wants you to believe?

Ditch Nuclear Power? You need to see this!

The green campaign group ‘Friends of the Earth’ have said the UK must now re-assess its plans to build more nuclear reactors. They are needed to combat the UK’s growing energy shortfall, since the ludicrously inefficient and expensive wind turbines cannot ever meet our needs.

But now Japan’s nuclear disaster has led to a siren wail of “I-told-you-so” from the world’s greenies. Before you agree with them you should see these two videos.

God had a wife called Asherah?

Unsuprisingly, there is yet more anti-Christian programming from the tax-funded BBC. When you watch this latest bit of garbage, remember that YOU are paying for it.

BBC’s latest religious “expert” is a self-proclaimed atheist who claims God had a wife and Eve suffered from sexism. Dr Francesca Stavrakopoulou makes a number of staggering statements in forthcoming BBC2 series “The Bible’s Buried Secrets.”

The presenter, who has a doctorate in theology from the University of Oxford, argues that Eve was not the first woman in the Bible, as the story of the Garden of Eden does not belong in the first Book of the Old Testament.

She said: ‘Eve has been unfairly maligned as the troublesome wife who brought about the fall. Don’t forget that the biblical writers were male and it’s a very male-dominated world. Women were second-class citizens.’

And Dr Stavrakopoulou, a senior lecturer in the department of theology and religion at Exeter University, does not believe in God. She said: ‘I’m an atheist with a huge respect for religion’. [however, not with enough respect to get the facts right.]

Dr Stavrakopoulou’s claims that God had a wife appeared to be backed up by her own research speculation into the subject. In a recent article she wrote: ‘Archaeological evidence including inscriptions, figurines and ancient texts as well as details in the Bible, indicate not just that he was one of several worshipped in ancient Israel, but that he was also coupled with a goddess. She was worshipped alongside him in his temple in Jerusalem.

‘…Yahweh… had to see off a number of competitors to achieve his position as the one and only god of the ancient Israelites. The biblical texts name many of them: El, Baal, Molek, Asherah. ‘

‘Far more significant is the Bible’s admission that the goddess Asherah was worshipped in Yahweh’s temple in Jerusalem. In the Book Of Kings, we’re told that a statue of Asherah was housed in the temple…  goddess worship was a thriving feature of high-status religion in Jerusalem. ‘

”But perhaps most significant of all, Asherah was also the wife of El, the high god at Ugarit  –  a god who shares much in common with Yahweh. Given the evidence within the Bible that she was worshipped in the temple in Jerusalem, might she have played the role of a divine wife in ancient Israel too?’

Errrr – NO!!! Read the bible, dummy!

It’s no mystery that these days a liberal feminist atheist can get a degree in theology, in fact you’d probably struggle to get one if you were a genuine Christian. And it’s no surprise that it’s open season on Christians and the Bible again just in time for Easter. We expect nothing more from the BBC.

Lawmakers Urge UK to talk to Hamas

LONDON (Reuters) – Lawmakers urged the British government on Sunday to talk to moderates within Hamas, saying the West’s policy of shunning the Palestinian Islamist group was showing little sign of success.

The British parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee said in a report it stood by a recommendation it first made two years ago that the government should engage politically with moderate elements within Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip.

Britain and other Western nations reject contact with Hamas because of its refusal to recognize Israel, renounce violence and accept existing interim peace deals.

Russia is the only member of the Quartet of Middle East peace brokers — which also comprises the United States, the United Nations and the European Union — talking to Hamas.

“We conclude that there continue to be few signs that the current policy of non-engagement is achieving the Quartet’s stated objectives,” the committee said.

“We further conclude that the credible peace process for which the Quartet hopes, as part of its strategy for undercutting Hamas, is likely to be difficult to achieve without greater cooperation from Hamas itself.”

The committee said it was concerned the Quartet was failing to provide Hamas with greater incentives to change its position. It said Britain should talk to Hamas moderates as a way of encouraging the group to meet the Quartet principles.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s government changed policy in March by saying it was open to talks with the political wing of Lebanon’s Iranian-backed Hezbollah, but it remains opposed to talking to Hamas.

The committee, made up of Members of Parliament from all the main political parties, said it was dismayed that, six months after the end of fighting in Gaza, there was still no ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. There had been little change to several issues that contributed to the conflict, it said.

“We conclude that this situation makes for an ongoing risk of insecurity and a renewed escalation of violence,” it said.

Israel invaded Gaza on December 27, 2008 and fighting continued until January 18, 2009, killing more than 1,000 people.

The committee said it was deeply concerned about the high number of casualties, the extent of the damage and allegations of violations of international law during the Gaza conflict.

“We conclude that Hamas targets civilians in its armed actions, and that Israel’s military action in Gaza was disproportionate,” it said.
